The mountains just outside of Edneyville are ablaze and the area I live in just made the national news because of it. Fortunately, that fire is slowly being contained. However, I just learned that there is another one in Dupont Forest which is closer to my home, and that explains all the haze I am seeing on the mountain outside of my home. At present, I am safe, but others living around me not so much.
The fire was started by some guy who walked away from a smoldering brush pile burn and I can't help but being both angry and sad that one person, through their own selfishness, can cause problems for so many people. We have a guy in our neighborhood who does the same thing every year and ends up getting rid of his brush at the expense of stinking up everyone's house. I just don't get it. I can take a truckload of leaves and brush to the recycle center for $10 where it is turned into mulch. It is a quicker process, safer for the environment, and produces a product that everyone can use for a reasonable cost.
It has been really dry here and I hope we get some rain soon. The image I have included in this post to my blog is by no way intended to make light of the current fire situation. It is one that just came out of a recent shoot.
