I spent way too much time in the car today stuck in traffic. During that time, I was bombarded with the same commercials over, and over, and over again. I can't make up my mind...which is worse, The Jardiance Commercial or 1-800-CARS-FOR-KIDS. Maybe Bambee...no matter what your problem Bambee has the answer. and here I always thought Bambee was a pole dancer.
Anyhow, during my journey into online art, I think I've experienced every scam possible, most of which have involved either marketing my art (for a fee) to non-existent buyers or stealing the rights to it through bogus NFT offers. I even found one service on the web where for a fee of $49 per month, I can get matched up to the scammers who are supposedly the best matched to rip me off based on my profile. In the word of Joe Biden, 'I Mean it, really, it's no joke'. A web service for scammers promoting scammers!
Back to the car, and stuck in traffic, I started to think about marketing in general and how much of it is honest information that helps consumers make good choices, and how much is just part of some multi-faceted, in the celebration of capitalism, scam?
As I try to market my art, I'd like to think that people see me as a legitimate business person, but given everything else that is going on in the realm of marketing , I understand why so many people hesitate to buy art on-line. It is really sad that so many people are involved in ripping other people off that it seems to spill over into those who are trying to legitimately be in business with truthful (not-stretched) marketing and advertising.
But then something happened that pulled me out of the depressive onslaught of marketing muck and renewed my hope that there are still some honest advertisers and marketers out there. Lume Deodorant. By gosh...anyone who can talk openly about buttcrack smells on national programming has got to be legit. Maybe I should make a piece of art and title it 'Buttcrack'. I'm not here to rip anyone off.. I just want to be a part of people's homes and make their walls look more interesting.
